With much love...

"Amme, I don't want to finish my breakfast. I have stomach pain."

"I should go to play now. If I go out and play, my stomach will bounce - like this," demonstrating how it will bounce, "and the pain will go away."

"No, no, no. I know very well about stomach pain. I used to have a lot of nasty stomach pains when I was little. If you go out to play, your tummy will bounce and you will throw up. So you should lie down and take rest. Now go, take rest. Go, go."

"I think my stomach pain is gone now."
"Very good. Go finish your breakfast."

My clever and intelligent son turned six today

  1. I think that was the age at which my son came up with the anatomical theory that you could be full in terms of finishing your dinner and yet have plenty of room left in your "dessert bag."

Ah, the fleeting days when you could keep up with their inventiveness! Soon enough, they are adults, laughing with tales of the long-ago excuses and explanations you fell for!

  2. happy birthday wishes to him :) So what did you get him.. was he looking for something this birthday :)

  3. Mike: This proves that all little kids graduate from the same university! My son says the same - no space left for rice, but can have as many ice creams as possible.

Doc: Well, he was looking for something that was too expensive. So I had to say No. :) How long my 'No's will work remains to be seen.

  4. The best about child is clarity within thoughts and focus as well. Congrats.
